Casper Ruud Shines Bright with First Masters 1000 Title at Madrid Open 2025

On Sunday Norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud made his first victory in the history of ATP Masters 1000 tennis competition at the Mutua Madrid Open 2025. Ruud achieved victory by defeating Jack Draper of Britain 7-5 3-6 6-4 to secure the first-ever Masters 1000 title for Norway at this prestigious tournament.

The title victory brought out a wide smile from Ruud who called the moment his lifelong dream achievement during his post-match interview.

The Masters 1000 title had been my dream since childhood so claiming it at Madrid Open exceeds my wildest expectations.

Since the competition forced me to push beyond my limits with every match because I recognized Jack had shown top-level performance throughout the tournament.

The three-time Grand Slam finalist along with former world No. 2 has repeatedly shown dominance in clay-court matches. Since the start of 2020 his clay-court record has been unmatched by any other player on the ATP Tour with his 124 wins and 17 finals and 12 titles.

The clay court specialists of the world consider him as their top king following his Madrid Open 2025 championship win which became a standout accomplishment for this season because he secured twelve titles from his thirteen career titles on the clay surface.

The victory propels Ruud into top position number seven in the ATP rankings while also moving him up from his previous spot at 15 starting on Monday.

The victory marks a powerful comeback for Ruud after his brief downturn earlier this year because he has appeared in Roland Garros twice. Draper will reach a career first as he breaks into the top five rankings after his determined final performance.

The Madrid Open 2025 tournament showed how Ruud demonstrated both determination and skill which establishes him for an upcoming active clay court season.

The victory brings Ruud substantial confidence according to him. I will continue driving myself forward.
