Glenn McGrath’s Bold 5-0 Ashes Prediction for 2025-26 Shocks Cricket Fans
The former fast bowler, who claimed over 500 Test wickets and lifted the Ashes urn six times, is known for his bold and unwavering Ashes predictions. Ahead of the much-anticipated clash, McGrath told BBC Radio 5 Live that he sees no reason to change his forecast.
“It’s rare for me to make a prediction, isn’t it? But I can't say anything different—5-0,” said McGrath with a chuckle. “I’m confident in our team. With Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon at home, England will have a tough time.”
Australia Confident on Home Soil
Australia’s bowling attack has been nearly unstoppable on home turf, and with key players likely to be at their peak, McGrath believes the visitors will struggle to win even a single Test.
“That track record England have in Australia… let’s just say it’ll be interesting to see if they can win one,” he added.
England's Aussie Struggles Continue
England hasn't tasted Ashes victory since 2015. Their recent record in Australia is even more concerning—they haven’t won a Test match there since the 2010-11 series. With two drawn series and two losses since then, the odds seem stacked against them.
The last Ashes series in 2023 ended in a dramatic 2-2 draw, allowing Australia to retain the urn. But McGrath is confident history won’t repeat itself.
Can England Prove Him Wrong?
With Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum continuing to push an aggressive “Bazball” approach, fans are hopeful England might flip the script this time. But facing a full-strength Aussie squad in their backyard? That’s a tall order.
Cricket Fans Divided
While some supporters admire McGrath’s confidence, others call it premature. But one thing is certain—his comments have added more fire to an already heated rivalry.
